summer beginnings

A few pictures from the weekend, taken at home and around town. Though the official first day of summer isn't until this Saturday, we are definitely settling in to our summer rhythms here. Easy to get up early on these sunny days (especially with my trusty 100-pound furry alarm clock helping me rise). We've had lots of time with friends visiting Albuquerque over the past few months, and this past weekend I got to see Mercedes, who is in town with her husband. We did not plan our matching outfits, I swear! Made me laugh.

Right now I'm making granny squares, and just loving them. They were the first thing I learned how to make with yarn, 30 years ago (goodness), and downright comforting to make. Kate and Courtney from Kelbourne Woolens (two of my fabulous Squam cabin-mates), are spearheading a Crochet-Along this summer. The rules are simple - crochet something before Labor Day. I'm in!
