Craftmas in July has begun!
I finished my first two Craftmas in July projects this weekend! Two little handstitched felt ornaments for Jacob: a wee owl (from Fa La La La Felt, a cute little book), and an Oklahoma ornament with some special Tulsa love for his hometown.
For the Oklahoma ornament, I just did a google image search for "Oklahoma map" and printed out one to cut and use as a template for the smaller green OK. After sewing on the heart and its outlines I thought the panhandle part might be too floppy with only the green front and back layers, so I cut out larger red OKs to stitch the green states to (there's a green Oklahoma on the back as well, in reverse, with my embroidered "signature" on it just like on the back of the owl I posted to Instagram).
The yarn I used for loops is Miss Babs because I had it handy from some recent swatching... a little bit fancy for ornament loops, maybe, but that's fine by me.
I'm so excited to add these to Jacob's ornament collection for our tree this Christmas. I've wanted to make him some cute felt ornaments based on things he loves for years - yay for Craftmas in July and finally taking the time to do them!
